  1. What is Network(IP Addr)?

    You will select a IP Addr that you want to log from combo box of Network(IP Addr) .

    [Commentary]
    All the Network boards connected with PC are sure to be being displayed in the combo box now.
    If you are not able to find IP Addr that you want to log, you will click “Refresh” button.

    [ Note ]
    Target IP is not displayed in the combo box when the network board is not correctly connected and when the cable has come off.

  2. How to Watch another HOST.

    If you want to watch Network of another PC, you will check this.
    And you will set IP Addr that you want to watch of another PC to “IP Adress of another HOST”.

    [Commentary]
    “Watch another HOST” means another PC besides target PC of logging is prepared, and is logged by the another PC.
    When it uses SECS Packet Logger with old OS or besides Windows OS , this function is useful functions.
    (Also, when you do not touch target PC,etc…)


    To use this function, you have the following three methods.

    • Use Shared Hub(Repeat Hub).

      [Preparations]
      • Shared Hub(Repeat Hub).
      • Another PC besides target PC with LAN adapter.
      Example of connection)


    • Use Switching Hub with port mirror.

      [Preparations]
      • Switching Hub with port mirror
      • Another PC besides target PC with LAN adapter.
      Example of connection)
      Same as ‘Use Shared Hub(Repeat Hub).’
      * You must connect to LAN adapter of another PC besides target PC from mirror port in switching hub.

    • Use Bridging connection.

      [Preparations]
      • Another PC besides target PC with LAN adapter(x2).
      Example of connection)

      * You must connect by cross cable if you connect direct to LAN adapter of another PC besides target PC from target PC.


      The following is example of setting the bridging connection by Windos XP.
      Example)
      Target PC : 192.168.1.100
      Equipment : 192.168.1.101
      Another PC(run SECS Packet Logger) : 192.168.1.110 (IP address unused on the network. )
      1. Two network adapters are installed in PC that runs SECS Packet Logger.
      2. Click [Control Panel]-[Network Connections] in PC that runs SECS Packet Logger.


      3. You will notice two LAN adapters were installed.
        It is ‘Local Area Connection 3’ and ‘Local Area Connection 2’ in this example.
        * If you are not able to find two LAN adapters, you should re-install two adapters with Manual of LAN adapter.

        Click right button with two LAN adapters.
        Click ‘Bridge Connections’ on following menu.
        * If you find else bridge connection, you should delete it. Because you might be able to remove other problems.



        You will notice Bridge Icon were installed.


      4. Click right button with Bridge Icon like a following figure.
        And Click ‘Properties’ on menu.



        Input IP address,Netmask,etc.like normal LAN adapter.


        IP address is ‘192.168.1.110’ , and Netmask is ‘ 255.255.255.0’ in this example.


        Click ‘OK’ button, you will finish setting.

      * You need not set target PC or Equipment.

  3. What is TCP port number(HSMS)?

    You will input TCP port number that you want to log.

    [Commentary]
    You must input TCP port number of HSMS.
    Default TCP port number : 5000

  4. How to execute SECS Message Viewer

    If you want to execute SECS Message Viewer , you will click “Execute Viewer” button.

    If this software is not executing log,, SECS Message Viewer will open a logging file.
    If this software is not executing log, SECS Message Viewer will not open none.
